Born in Pombal, Vera Silva began her musical studies at the Regional Conservatory of Coimbra, where she studied piano with Tatiana Malguiná. Later she started singing lessons with Mariana Fidalgo, having completed her degree and Masters in Singing at the University of Aveiro, under the guidance of Isabel Alcobia.
In 2011, she joined the Opera Studio of Teatro Nacional de S.Carlos, in Lisbon.
Between 2009 and 2021 she taught singing and choir in several artistic schools, namely in Chaves, Leiria and Coimbra, and directed several choirs for children and adults in Aveiro, Leiria, Fátima and Pombal.
Alongside this pedagogical activity, her interpretations of Romilda in Serse (Haendel), 1a Dama in The Magic Flute (Mozart), Serpina in La Serva Padrona (Pergolesi), Frasquita in Carmen (Bizet), among others, stand out. In the field of oratory, Vera Silva presents herself mainly with baroque repertoire. She performed with an orchestra in the 4th cantata of the Christmas Oratory and cantata 51 – Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen (Bach), Laudate Dominum (Delalande), Te Deum (Charpentier), Sub tuum praesidium, Regina Coeli – KV108 and Exsultate Jubilate (Mozart ), Nulla in mundo pax sincera, Laudate Pueri – RV601 and Gloria (Vivaldi), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Die Schöpfung (Haydn) and also in the role of Maria Magdalena in the oratory Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena by J.A. Hasse, included in the 2021 Festival de Perigórd Noir.
She has worked with important artists from the Portuguese and foreign music scene, such as Andrew Bisantz, António Vassalo Lourenço, Benoit Babel, Carlos Aransay, Christoph König, Iñaki Encina Oyón, João Paulo Santos, Juliane Banse, Leandro Alves, Markus Fohr, Pierre Mak, Tom Krause, Ulrike Sonntag.
Vera Silva stands out for her strong interpretive and musical presence, giving extreme importance to the emotion that the word and the text convey.
