We would like to notify all interested candidates that the 7th Edition of the International Academy of Orchestra Conducting – Estoril ’26 is no longer accepting applications, as all available spots have been filled. We thank you for your interest and we look forward to your participation next year, for the Academy of ’27.
Active Participants
- Open to young conductors holding a minimum of Master’s degree in orchestral conducting, or conductors with demonstrated professional orchestral experience.
- Selection is based on artistic curriculum and submitted video recordings of rehearsals or performances.
- Participants work with a professional symphony orchestra.
- At the conclusion of the course, three finalists are selected to conduct in a public concert.
- Each active participant receives:
* Minimum of 2-3 hours of podium time with the professional orchestra
* Over 30 hours of instruction, including theoretical and practical conducting preparation under faculty supervision

Passive Participants
Passive participants have access to all course sessions and may interact with faculty, active participants, and orchestra members. Many former passive participants later return as active participants in subsequent editions of the Academy.
