A native of Lisbon, Miguel Perdigão began his studies at the Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional, in the piano class of Professor Ana Valente and the chamber music class of Professor Anna Tomasik. He graduated with distinction from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where he studied piano with Professor Dr. Miguel Henriques and chamber music with Professor Paulo Pacheco.
He has taken part in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as António Rosado, Jan Michiels, Boyan Vodenitcharov, John Rink, and Rem Urasin. In the field of chamber music, he has received guidance from members of some of the most celebrated ensembles of our time, such as the Quatuor Agate, Cuarteto Quiroga, Endellion String Quartet, Jerusalem String Quartet, and Ysaÿe String Quartet.
He is a founding member of Trio ARO, alongside clarinetist Diogo Cocharra and cellist Adriana Gonçalves, a group dedicated to exploring new musical languages through the format of a clarinet trio. Awarded in national and international competitions, Trio ARO has performed at major venues in Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Poland. Affirming its contemporary aesthetic, the trio has given the Portuguese premieres of works by Per Nørgård and Dai Fujikura, as well as the world premieres of works by Ulrich Schultheiss and Solange Azevedo.
Throughout his artistic career, both as a soloist and in ensemble, Miguel Perdigão has performed at some of Portugal’s most important venues, including the Vianna da Motta Auditorium, Teatro Garcia de Resende, the Ajuda National Palace, Teatro Micaelense, Palácio Marquês de Fronteira, Cine-Teatro Avenida, Casa da Música, and the Teatro Nacional de S. Carlos. He has also taken part in the Síntese, Estoril Lisboa, and Piano City Lisboa festivals, and has had live performances recorded and broadcast by RTP Açores and Antena 2. He has performed as a soloist with orchestra on two occasions, collaborating with conductors Jan Wierzba and José Eduardo Gomes, performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, respectively.
He has been a scholarship recipient of important institutions such as the GDA Foundation, the Rotary Club, and the Centro Nacional de Cultura. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Miguel Henriques.
