In 2018, guitarists Diogo João and Márcio Silva decided to form Duo Sirius, after collaborating in various chamber music groups during their studies with Dejan Ivanović at the University of Évora.
Over the years spent exploring the guitar duo format and its repertoire, they have had the opportunity to perform in venues such as the Grand Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Sala 2 at Casa da Música in Porto, Teatro Lethes in Faro, and the Auditorium of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens, with several of their concerts broadcast by Antena 2.
In addition to 1st place in the Chamber Music – Advanced Level category of the Prémio Jovens Músicos 2022, the duo also won 1st prize at the Veria International Guitar Festival 2022 (Greece), 1st prize at the Lagoa “Zé Gregório” International Guitar Competition 2023, and 2nd prize at the 49th Ligita – Liechtenstein Guitar Festival, in 2023.
In February 2024, with the support of the GDA Foundation, Duo Sirius released their first album, “Persona,” featuring works by Ronald Stevenson, André Jolivet, and Tiago Quintas.
