Carla Frias holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Lyric Singing from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, having completed her training at the Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional. She made her opera debut at the Metropolitana Opera Studio (2019/2020), performing the role of Gianetta in G. Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.
In operatic repertoire, she has performed Belinda in H. Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Berta in G. Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, and Elle in F. Poulenc’s La voix humaine. As a concert soloist, she has performed works such as G. Fauré’s Requiem, G. F. Handel’s Messiah, A. Vivaldi’s Gloria, G. B. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, W. A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass, J. Rutter’s Magnificat, and G. Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.
She has refined her artistry in masterclasses with Anna Samuil, Melody Moore, and Helen Lawson, and has performed under the direction of conductors such as John Nelson, Hannu Lintu, Michel Corboz, Lawrence Foster, Gustavo Dudamel, Lorenzo Viotti, and Martina Batič.
She was a scholarship recipient of the GDA Foundation (2017), and won 2nd Prize at the Festival Verão.
