The Spanish cellist Angela Escauriaza began her studies at the Conservatorio Pablo Sarasate. She later moved to Paris, where she continued her training at the CRR de Paris with professor Marie-Paule Milone. In 2017, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in the class of Maarten Mostert at the Amsterdam Conservatory, followed by a Master’s degree in Performance and a Master’s degree in Pedagogy in the class of Ophélie Gaillard at the Haute École de Musique de Genève. Alongside her studies, she took part in masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Pieter Wispelwey, Troels Svane, Gary Hoffman, and Johannes Moser.
A finalist in international competitions such as the Intercentros Melómano in Spain and the Vatelot-Rampal in Paris, Angela is supported by the Lyra Foundation, the Department of Culture of the Government of Navarra, and the Melinda de Galantha Foundation.
In the field of chamber music, Angela collaborates with renowned ensembles across Europe. Winner of the second prize at the “Fernando Remacha” competition in the piano duo category, she is also a member of the Céba Quartet, with which she performs at the Colmar Festival.
She has gained extensive orchestral experience performing with several youth orchestras, including the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. During the 2019–2020 season, she held the position of principal cellist at the Geneva Sinfonietta. She regularly performs with various European orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, and the Gulbenkian Orchestra. Between 2022 and 2024, she was a member of the Euskadiko Orkestra in San Sebastián. These experiences have taken her to prestigious European concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and La Scala in Milan.
