Dmitrii Kalashnikov began his musical studies at the age of five at the Gnessin Special Music School in Moscow. He later graduated with honors from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
In 2018, Dmitrii moved to London to pursue his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music (RCM), supported by the Neville Wathen Scholarship, first as a Ruth West Scholar and later as a Blüthner Pianos Scholar. During his time at the RCM, he won several prizes, including the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rosebowl and the Jacques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition. He also performed as a soloist with the RCM Symphony Orchestra.
Dmitrii has performed in many renowned venues, such as the House of Music in Moscow, the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and major halls in the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Estonia, Italy, Poland, and Belgium. He has also performed with the Russian National Orchestra under the direction of Mikhail Pletnev.
Dmitrii has also contributed to his community, organizing charity concerts for orphans at the Marina Tsvetaeva House-Museum.
In 2021, Dmitrii graduated from the RCM with distinction and went on to continue his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since then, he has performed at numerous international festivals and events, including the Lille Piano Festival, Wigmore Hall in London, Lang Lang’s masterclass in Vienna, and concerts in the USA.
In May 2022, Dmitrii performed in the presence of the then Prince Charles, following the annual awards ceremony at the Royal College of Music in London. He also took part in the Blüthner Festival in 2023 and performed at the Poulenc concert on the island of Madeira.
In 2024, he took part in Classic Piano 2024 and the Scottish International Piano Competition 2023, and won 2nd prize at the Isidor Bajić Piano Memorial (Serbia, 2023). He has performed in several countries, including Spain, France, Austria, Germany, and the United Kingdom, among others.
