CONCERT “POR NOVOS CAMINHOS”

Three composers little known in Portugal are featured in this recital, with works written for mixed ensembles of winds and strings. The program presents pieces of great interest and, in some cases, premieres, with special emphasis on the important Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera, a student of Aaron Copland and teacher of Astor Piazzolla, and on the English composer Arnold Bax. The program also includes, to the surprise of many, the American composer Amy Beach, whose work is beginning to be rediscovered. This is a recital designed to enrich musical knowledge in an accessible and enjoyable way.
