Pedro Ferreira da Silva began his musical studies in Classical Guitar at the Loures Conservatory with Prof. José Mesquita Lopes, having also attended at the
Conservatory of Tomar, under the guidance of Maestro Luís Bragança Gil, a course in Choral Conducting. Privately, he took classes with several teachers, such as: Elisa Lamas, Helena Pimentel, Francisco d´Orey, Carlos Fernandes. Subsequently, he took a degree in Musical Sciences at NOVA University of Lisbon –
School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Among the professional experiences, the following stand out:
– Presentation of a song he wrote in the Aula Magna, within the scope of the Festival da Canção Missionária;
– Participation as a jury in the Estoril Children's Song Festival;
– Member of the Jury of a contest at Palácio Egipto (Oeiras), involving three aspects: music, fashion and dance;
– Former member of the Cascais Chamber Choir and the New Philharmonic Symphonic Choir;
– Participation in other choirs in partnership with members of Teatro Nacional de S. Carlos, Coro Gulbenkian, Coro do Instituto Gregoriano and Coro de Câmara de Lisboa;
– Participation in the Estoril Coast International Music Festivals.
In the compositional area, he has written regularly for various instruments, with works registered at the General Inspection of Cultural Activities (IGAC), two of which were chosen by OCCO within the scope of a Composition Competition organized by it. In the field of teaching, he has adapted repertoire from various musical aesthetics (erudite, jazz, pop, etc.), providing students, as early as possible, with access to various musical languages, whose main focus is to meet their tastes and motivations. He currently teaches Classical Guitar and Musical Training at the Cascais Music Conservatory, as well as at the Crescendo Music Schools (Oeiras and Estoril). In these Schools, his experience as an exam supervisor at Trinity College London for his students stands out.
He also taught Classical Guitar at St. Georges School.
